Trump nominates former Congressman and current Fox host Sean Duffy for Transportation Secretary
President-elect Donald Trump has nominated former Wisconsin Congressman and current Fox Business co-host Sean Duffy to be the Secretary of Transportation.
In a statement regarding the nomination, Trump praised Duffy's track record: "During his time in Congress, Sean was a respected voice and communicator in the Republican Conference, advocating for fiscal responsibility, economic growth, and rural development. Admired across the aisle, Sean worked with Democrats to clear extensive legislative hurdles to build the largest road and bridge project in Minnesota history."
Duffy began his public service career as the Ashland County District Attorney in 2002. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives for Wisconsin's Seventh Congressional District in 2010 and served until 2019. Throughout his tenure, he was an active member of the House Committee on Financial Services and various subcommittees.
After leaving Congress, Duffy became a Fox News contributor in 2020. He currently co-hosts The Bottom Line on Fox Business and provides political analysis across other Fox platforms.
In announcing Duffy's appointment, Trump noted that he would prioritize rebuilding transportation infrastructure, securing ports and dams, and "eliminating DEI for pilots and air traffic controllers."
Duffy's appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
