Pacers Lose Another Big Man for the Season Due to Torn Achilles
INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Pacers center Isaiah Jackson has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a torn right Achilles tendon. The injury occurred during the fourth quarter of Friday night's game against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Jackson underwent an MRI in Dallas on Saturday afternoon, which confirmed the severity of his injury. He is scheduled to have surgery on Monday, Nov. 4, to address the tear.
Following the Pacers' 125-118 defeat to the Pelicans, head coach Rick Carlisle expressed concern over Jackson's condition, hoping for better news as he feared Jackson would join fellow teammate James Wiseman on the list of players sidelined for the season.
Wiseman, who was recently acquired by the Pacers, suffered a similar injury to his left leg during their season opener in Detroit just ten days ago.
This season, Jackson participated in five out of six games and had just received his first start against the Boston Celtics when he filled in for Myles Turner, who was out with an ankle injury. In that game, Jackson tied his season-high with 10 points and contributed five rebounds during an overtime victory. Turner returned to the lineup shortly after for their next game against New Orleans.
Throughout his five appearances this season, Jackson averaged seven points and 5.6 rebounds per game. At just 22 years old and a Kentucky alum, he has spent his entire four-year career with Indiana, showcasing significant growth during the previous season where he played 63 games and averaged 7.2 points per contest.
The Pacers are set to face off against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night as they look to improve from their sluggish 2-4 start this season. The game will tip off at 9:45 p.m. ET before they return home to host the Orlando Magic on Wednesday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
