Big Lots is moving forward with additional store closures as it navigates Chapter 11 bankruptcy. In a recent court filing in Delaware, the retailer announced plans to shut down 19 more locations across Texas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, California, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, and Nevada.

To date, Big Lots has closed hundreds of stores as part of its bankruptcy strategy, with original plans indicating over 500 locations would be affected.

"Though the majority of our store locations are profitable, we intend to move forward with a more focused footprint to ensure that we operate efficiently and are best positioned to serve our customers," CEO Bruce Thorn stated when the bankruptcy was announced.

Interestingly, some stores that were initially slated for closure may remain open. For instance, certain web pages for locations like Carson City, Nevada now display banners suggesting continued service.

Additionally, Big Lots is maintaining its planned sales events and has introduced a new shopping app to enhance customer engagement.

The retailer advises customers to utilize its store locator tool for the most current updates on which locations will remain operational.
