Gold Prices Soar to New Heights
Midwest Jewelry and Bullion has been bustling with activity as people flock to buy and sell gold. According to owner Tony Jordan, the store sees around 30-40 customers daily due to record-high prices.
"This is an example of what people bring in to sell - 80's style necklaces, bracelets, rings," said Tony Jordan.
Jordan is currently sifting through a box of items brought in by customers. "Something like this is probably 2 or 3 thousand dollars in today's gold price," he noted.
"I watch it every day, every second. It's like a stock analyst or anything else - you just watch it and go," said Jordan.
The price of gold has surpassed $3,500 per ounce for the first time, with Tuesday's value sitting at around $3,330. The metal is up $1,000 from last year and over 30% since the start of the year due to economic uncertainty and inflation, according to Jordan.
If you're looking to buy or sell gold, Jordan advises making sure you trust the person you're dealing with, getting multiple offers, and avoiding telemarketers. With prices at an all-time high, it's no wonder people are eager to get in on the action.
