Grillo's Pickles Breaks Ground on $54 Million Facility Adjacent to King's Hawaiian Bakery

Grillo's Pickles has broken ground on a $54 million food manufacturing facility in Taylorsville, Indiana, adjacent to King's Hawaiian Bakery. The 155,000 square-foot facility is expected to employ around 150 people.

"When we purchased the Bartholomew County site, we did so with thoughts about building it out in phases." - Joe Leonardo, Vice President of Strategic Operations for Irresistible Foods Group and Chief Operating Officer of King's Hawaiian
The facility will be located near the I-65 interchange, which is also home to the Indiana Premium Outlets mall. The pickle producer will be situated next to a $175 million bakery facility for King's Hawaiian rolls, which was announced in December 2023.

The state's economic development arm, Indiana Economic Development Corp., pledged up to $1.4 million in credits for the Grillo's Pickle project, contingent on job creation. Local government entities also supported the investment, with Bartholomew County officials pledging up to $3,746,000 from a combination of funds to pay for off-site water, sewer, and road improvement upgrades.
