Remembering Gene Hackman with Bobby Plump

Actor Gene Hackman will always be remembered in Indiana for his role as coach Norman Dale in the film “Hoosiers.” In honor of his passing, we go “UnPHILtered” Thursday with Bobby Plump, a member of the state championship winning team that inspired the film.

"I've got news for you. You can't win without fundamentals. And when you get right down to it, that's what it's all about." - Gene Hackman as Coach Norman Dale

"Gene Hackman will always be remembered in Indiana for his role as coach Norman Dale," Bobby Plump said. "He was a big part of our story and brought attention to the real-life Hoosiers who won the state championship in 1954."

"I never met Gene, but I heard he was a great guy," Plump added. "He really understood what it took to be successful, not just on the court, but in life too."
