Sheryl Crow's Protest-Driven Tesla Heads to Auction in Indiana
Singer Sheryl Crow recently made headlines for selling her 2018 black Tesla in protest of Elon Musk and his work in the Trump administration. The car, with around 70,000 miles, has been delivered to Wolfe's Auto Auction in Evansville, Indiana, and is ready for a new owner.
"It was kind of politically known that she donated it and someone and so forth and whenever you stand, it's not really a matter of that," owner Tony Wolfe said. "It's an enthusiast situation of 'Hey I may want to own a piece of history or a rare piece of car whatever' and whatnot. So, it's really about just having fun and seeing what the car may bring."
Crow went viral online after selling the car and donating the proceeds to National Public Radio (NPR). She wrote on her Instagram: "There comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with. So long Tesla." Money donated to @npr, which is under threat by President Trump, in hopes that the truth will continue to find its way to those willing to know the truth."
Wolfe also praised the car's technology, saying: "I think they're amazing cars. The technology that is behind these things is amazing. They can self-drive. They do all kinds of features, camera features. It's top of the line on technology."
The auction will take place on April 11-12 and anyone can register to participate.
