Addressing Issues Affecting Hoosiers: Panel Discussion Hosted by Indiana Black Legislative Caucus

The Indiana Black Legislative Caucus hosted a panel discussion at Crossroads AME Church in Indianapolis, tackling issues affecting Hoosiers. The event featured state representatives from across Indiana, including Rep. Earl Harris Jr., who represents House District 2.

The panel covered legislation passed during the first half of the legislative session, touching on topics such as property taxes, public health policy, education, and human trafficking.

“I know there are a lot of people who are frustrated because they don’t have the opportunity to speak to their reps, their senators. That’s why we feel it is important to get out there. Talking about people that voted us into office, so we are responsible to them," Rep. Harris Jr. said.

Rep. Harris Jr. emphasized the importance of citizens engaging with their representatives, even if town hall meetings are not available. He suggested alternative methods for contacting lawmakers, including emailing, calling, writing, messaging on social media, reaching out to their office, or showing up at the Statehouse.
