Giving Machine Launches in Carmel on Giving Tuesday, Offering a Fresh Way to Contribute
CARMEL — A unique vending machine is providing residents of Carmel with an innovative way to give back on Giving Tuesday.
The Giving Machine was unveiled at Clay Terrace Mall, allowing users to swipe or tap their payment to donate items to various local and global charities instead of purchasing snacks or candy.
Abbey Niebel, social media coordinator, emphasized that the items in the machine aim to assist those in need within Central Indiana. She stated, "There's so many people right here in Central Indiana that need our help, so it's a way to give back. Items range anywhere from $2 to $250, so there's something that everyone can give."
Visitors can choose from multiple charity options, including donating school supplies for students or supporting refugee families facing immediate needs. Notably, 100 percent of donations go directly to the selected charity.
This year, Helping Veterans and Families (HVAF) is one of five local charities represented. The organization is currently rebuilding after a fire severely damaged its housing for homeless veterans in downtown Indianapolis.
Niebel added, "It's such a nice opportunity for people to just give back to the community during this holiday season. I've been able to visit each of these charities and put a name and a face to the people we're serving. I can tell you the individuals receiving these items are truly in need."
The Giving Machines are sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and are located in 61 places across the country, with Indianapolis being one such location.
