Hi-Fi Annex to Relocate Indoors Beginning in 2026
INDIANAPOLIS – MOKB Presents, an event production company based in Indianapolis, has announced plans to construct a new indoor music venue capable of accommodating 1,200 people in Fountain Square. This venue will replace the Hi-Fi Annex, which is currently an outdoor music space located behind the Murphy Arts Center.
According to a recent press release, the new venue is set to open in early 2026 and will nearly double the size of the existing space. The design includes a concert hall and a speakeasy-style basement area intended for smaller performances.
Officials from MOKB believe this project will help alleviate neighborhood concerns regarding parking and address various regulatory challenges.
MOKB Partner and Vice President of Events Dan Kemer emphasized their commitment to maintaining a community-focused approach: “Fans can expect our continued commitment to delivering high-caliber entertainment and exceptional customer service—hallmarks of the experience we’ve provided over the past ten years at HI-FI and the first five years of HI-FI Annex,” Kemer stated. “The new space and increased capacity perfectly complement our growing group of venues… we’re uniquely positioned to support artists, managers, and agents year-round at every stage of an artist’s career.”
The Hi-Fi Annex was initially established as a temporary outdoor venue during the pandemic. CEO Josh Baker noted that this new indoor location will be built on the site where the Granada Theater once stood, paying homage to Fountain Square’s rich entertainment history.
“This neighborhood was built on entertainment,” Baker said. “After being separated from the city by the creation of the I-65 interstate, it lost much of its audience and regular traffic. HI-FI, along with our fellow Fountain Square businesses, has been aggressively working to recreate the elements that long defined this area.”
The announcement also indicates that 2025 will mark the final outdoor season for the Hi-Fi Annex, which typically operates from April through October. A schedule for this last season will be announced soon.
MOKB reports that over the past decade, events held at their three venues have attracted more than 500,000 visitors to Fountain Square.
