Indianapolis Airport Sees High Traffic After Taylor Swift Concert Weekend

INDIANAPOLIS – As Taylor Swift's phenomenal Eras Tour comes to a close in central Indiana, the Indianapolis International Airport is bustling with activity as thousands of fans depart. On Monday alone, airport authorities anticipate that approximately 21,000 travelers will catch flights home, with peak activity occurring between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m.

Kelsey Brubaker, a dedicated Swiftie from Indiana, took advantage of the weekend to revisit her favorite spots in Indianapolis and Bloomington before flying back to Tulsa early Monday morning. Reflecting on her experience, she shared:

“Definitely a once in a lifetime experience. We sat in a suite Friday night, and it was amazing. I mean, I’ve heard the hype of it, and it definitely lived up to everything that they were describing.”

Another group of fans traveled from across the country for the third night of the concert series. Sarah Campbell expressed her excitement about their warm reception in Indianapolis:

“It was absolutely incredible. We had the best day ever, even just getting ready at the hotel room, going to see all this Swiftie stuff downtown, hanging out in the stadium, waiting for merch, and then the concert was phenomenal — start to finish.”

Campbell also noted the sheer scale of Swift's influence:

“Like, you look at the stadium, and I was like, imagine selling this out three times and having tons more people; like the influence and positivity she has on young girls is amazing.”

Tara Reina and Alex Watson flew home to Austin after attending Saturday night's show. They explored Indianapolis on Sunday and were impressed by how well the city embraced Taylor Swift’s visit.

“I’ve seen other cities kind of do things, but nobody had the (J.W.) Marriott (Taylor Swift decal). There were so many photo ops; everyone was so friendly and into it.”

Reina echoed similar sentiments regarding their shared experiences with fellow fans:

“You look at the stadium and imagine selling this out three times. The influence she has on young girls is amazing.”

This remarkable weekend contributes to what has already been a record-breaking travel year for Indianapolis International Airport. In August, officials reported that five of their top ten busiest days occurred during events such as the NBA All-Star Game and Indianapolis 500.

As Memorial Day approaches—historically one of the busiest travel days—last year saw nearly 22,000 passengers flying out the day after Indy 500. Overall estimates suggest that around 200,000 people visited Circle City for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.
