Lyft Provides Free and Discounted Rides to Polls on Election Day

Lyft is stepping up to assist voters on Election Day by offering free and discounted rides through its 2024 Lyft Up Voting Access Program. This initiative aims to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to cast their ballots without the burden of transportation costs.

In addition to providing rides, Lyft is committed to educating voters about registration requirements and what they need to bring to polling places. The company collaborates with organizations like When We All Vote, the League of Women Voters, and VoteRiders to disseminate this vital information.

On Tuesday, Lyft will provide discounted rides nationwide to polling stations. Furthermore, nonprofit partners will receive free or significantly reduced rides targeted at communities that often encounter obstacles when trying to reach the polls.

Lyft has partnered with several organizations, including the National Council of Negro Women, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, National Council on Aging, Asian and Pacific Islander American Vote, Hispanic Federation, and The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. These groups will distribute ride codes directly to individuals in need.

“Every American citizen should be able to exercise their right to vote without worrying about the cost or difficulty of getting to the polls,” said Lyft CEO David Risher in a press release. “Everyone — from a driver who's given a thousand rides to a rider who hasn’t taken her first one yet — deserves to have their voice heard at the polls. Our Voting Access Program is a great way Lyft can be a force for good.”

The promo codes provided by partners within Lyft’s Voting Access program can be used not only for rides to polling stations but also for registered dropbox locations in states that exclusively utilize vote-by-mail systems.
