Suspect Fatally Shot in Encounter with State Police at Frankfort Gas Station

CLINTON COUNTY — A suspect was fatally shot during an encounter with state police at a gas station in Frankfort on Monday afternoon.

The incident prompted state police to advise the public to steer clear of the area near State Road 28, just east of I-65, around 11:40 a.m. due to ongoing police activity.

Authorities reported that the situation escalated after a pursuit on I-65, which ultimately led law enforcement to the BP Gas Station.

Initial investigations suggest that the suspect fired at least one shot from their vehicle toward the troopers.

While it has been confirmed that the suspect is deceased, officials have not clarified whether they were shot by the officers during this confrontation.
