Anthony Richardson Ruled Out for Regular-Season Finale Due to Back Injury

Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson's second season has come to an early close due to a back injury.

Richardson has been ruled out of playing in Sunday's regular-season finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. This comes after he was benched from the Colts' game against the Giants on Dec. 29 due to the same issue.

Head Coach Shane Steichen previously described Richardson's injury as a soreness that evolved into back spasms.

Richardson himself described the pain as so intense he "couldn't stand up." After seeking medical attention and undergoing an MRI, it was determined that there is a disc issue in his lower back.

As a result of Richardson's injury, QB Joe Flacco will start for the final time this season on Sunday. The game against the Jaguars (4-12) kicks off at 1 p.m.
