Colts' Alec Pierce Takes a Ride with IndyCar at Sonsio Grand Prix

Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce got behind the wheel at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday, leading the drivers to the green flag for the Sonsio Grand Prix. He rode shotgun in the two-seater, an experience he described as "like a crazy roller coaster."

"It was awesome," Pierce said. "It was fast. Got a lot of respect for those drivers, man, it's crazy. Just driving like that, it feels like you're going to crash into every turn, man, you're going so fast."

Pierce admitted he wasn't the most skilled driver, having crashed multiple times during simulations beforehand.

Despite this, Pierce enjoyed the experience and appreciated the speed at which the drivers navigated the track.

Pierce also discussed his excitement to meet the rookies who just completed their minicamp with the Colts. He views these team-building activities as crucial for bonding and building relationships.

"Just continue to build relationships with the guys," Pierce said. "I love the OTAs times because we get a lot of time. It's later days, you're kind of done early afternoon so it gives you time to connect and hang out a little bit more and maybe get on the golf course, maybe go out to dinner with some guys, just do some social things."

Pierce had a breakout season in 2024, setting career highs in yards (824) and touchdowns (seven), as well as leading the NFL in yards per reception (22.3).

The Colts' schedule for the 2025 season will be released on Wednesday.

Alex Palou took home the win at the Sonsio Grand Prix, becoming the first driver to take home the title three years in a row.
