Curt Cignetti Honored as Big Ten Coach of the Year
ROSEMONT, Ill. — Indiana football head coach Curt Cignetti has been honored as the Big Ten Coach of the Year.
Cignetti is only the third coach in Indiana's history to receive this prestigious award, following Tom Allen in 2020 and Bill Mallory in 1986.
Under his leadership, the Hoosiers achieved an impressive eight-win improvement this season, setting a new program record with 11 victories. The previous record was nine wins, accomplished in both 1967 and 1945.
This accolade marks Cignetti’s fourth conference Coach of the Year award. He previously earned similar honors at each of his former coaching positions: Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Coach of the Year with Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2012, Colonial Athletic Association Coach of the Year with Elon in 2017, and Sun Belt Coach of the Year with James Madison in 2023.
Following a decisive 66-0 victory over Purdue in the Old Oaken Bucket game, Indiana now shifts its focus to postseason play. The team will learn if they qualify for the College Football Playoff when final rankings are announced on Sunday, December 8 at noon.
