Golden Anniversary: IHSAA Girls Basketball Championships Come to Life at Gainbridge
The top girl's basketball teams in the state are converging on the Circle City as the IHSAA Girls Basketball Championships come to life at Gainbridge. This year marks a milestone - the championship is celebrating its 50th anniversary.To commemorate this achievement, the state championship coaches and Indiana Miss Basketballs from the past five decades will be recognized at halftime of the 2A and 3A games. A fan fest will also be held in between sessions from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Entry Pavilion at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, featuring interactive games and interviews with the greats.The first game, Lafayette Central Catholic taking on Borden, tips off at 10:30 a.m. The second game is Rensselaer taking on South Knox, which will start at 12:45 p.m. Session 2 kicks off with the 3A championship game between Norwell and Greensburg, starting at 6 p.m. The final game is Warsaw up against Lawrence North, beginning at 8:15 p.m.
