Greenwood Sports Park Thrives with Baseball and Softball Tournaments
The Greenwood Sports Park is thriving with baseball and softball tournaments this season. As teams from around Indiana and beyond descend upon the facility, it's clear that this park has become a top destination for athletes and spectators alike.
"Artificial turf on the infield, natural grass in the outfield. No rainouts out here," Executive Director Rob Taggart said.
The park's state-of-the-art facilities have been a major draw for traveling teams and youth sports organizations. But it's not just athletes who are benefiting from the new facility – the community is also enjoying the park's many amenities, including a splash pad and an all-inclusive playground.
"Obviously the sports fields are a big draw for travel teams and youth sports, but also for the community. We've got splash pad, an all-inclusive playground, community playing fields up north here, just a very engaging park for the community and visitors as well," Taggart said.
One of the best things about the Greenwood Sports Park is that it's free to watch baseball and softball games – and parking is also free. This has made the park an attractive option for families and friends of players who want to cheer on their loved ones without breaking the bank.
"We're the home of no gate fees. I'm very proud of that, the city is very supportive of that and we don't want to discourage anybody from grandparents, to cousins, aunts or uncles, friends of the players come out and watch your kiddos play," Taggart said.
