Indiana Connections Realized: Local Talent Makes It to the NFL
In the 2025 NFL Draft, several players from Indiana colleges made their way into the professional league. One notable group is comprised of athletes who played for Notre Dame and Purdue universities in the Hoosier State.
"I'm just grateful to be here," said Benjamin Morrison, a cornerback who was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the 53rd overall pick. He added, "The work I put in at Notre Dame paid off."
Xavier Watts, a safety drafted by the Atlanta Falcons with the 96th pick, emphasized the importance of his college experience: "Notre Dame gave me the tools to succeed. I'm excited to take that next step and make my mark in the NFL."
Jack Kiser, a linebacker chosen by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the 107th pick, reflected on his journey: "From being Indiana Mr. Football to playing for Notre Dame, it's been an incredible ride. I'm thrilled to have this opportunity in the NFL."
CJ West, a defensive tackle drafted by the San Francisco 49ers with the 113th pick, praised his transfer experience from Kent State to Indiana University: "IU gave me a fresh start and allowed me to grow as a player. I'm grateful for that chance."
Rylie Mills, a defensive tackle selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the 142nd pick, looked forward to continuing his success at Notre Dame in the NFL: "I had an amazing time at Notre Dame, and I'm excited to carry that momentum into my professional career."
Marcus Mbow, an offensive guard drafted by the New York Giants with the 154th pick, highlighted his Purdue experience: "Purdue gave me the opportunity to develop as a player. I'm proud of what we accomplished together."
Mitchell Evans, a tight end selected by the Carolina Panthers with the 163rd pick, praised his Notre Dame teammates: "Playing for Notre Dame was an incredible experience. We had some amazing guys on our team, and I'm grateful to have shared that journey."
