Indiana Strength Coach Re-Signs

Derek Owings, the strength coach for Indiana's football team, has re-signed with the Hoosiers on a three-year contract extension with a "significant pay raise."

"USC made a strong push" to bring Owings to their staff, but he opted to stay in Bloomington.

Owings had been with the program since 2023, when he joined head coach Curt Cignetti. He played a key role in the team's historically successful season last year, which included a first-ever College Football Playoff appearance.

Three of Owings' student-athletes received All-American honors: linebacker Aiden Fisher, defensive lineman Mikail Kamara, and defensive back D'Angelo Ponds.

The Hoosiers finished the 2024 regular season with an impressive 11-1 record before falling in the first round of the College Football Playoff to Notre Dame.
