Pacers Make Deadline Moves: Trade Away Wiseman, Retain Turner

The Indiana Pacers were quiet at the NBA trade deadline, but not altogether silent. They traded center James Wiseman and cash to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for a top-55 protected pick.

Wiseman played in only one game with the Pacers this season before tearing his Achilles tendon in the October season opener. He was 2-for-4 with six points in his five minutes on the court before injury. The Pacers picked up Wisman from free agency and he was under contract for $2.2 million this season with a $2.5 million team option for the 2025-26 season.

The move gets the Pacers comfortably under the first tax apron. Indiana was already $147,000 under the threshold before the trade. The Wiseman move also opens up an open roster spot for the team.

Wiseman was the only player the Pacers moved at the deadline. Veteran center Myles Turner stayed put, despite being at the forefront of the team's trade rumors. Turner signed a two-year contract extension that makes him an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.

Myles Turner posted on X: "I'm relieved to still be here. Thanks for all the support and love. It means a lot." (adds a picture of Survivor with a smiling tearful emoji)

Turner has played in 45 games this season, averaging 15.4 points and 6.7 rebounds a game. He's making just under $20 million this year, taking up 14.18 percent of the Pacers' cap space.
