Revamping the Culture at Stutz with Turner's Bar
Turner's Bar in the heart of Indianapolis' Stutz Business Center is quickly becoming a unique spot, blending tradition with an inclusive atmosphere to redefine the social scene in the area.
“Turner's is very special and unique. I've been bartending for five going on six years now, and I've worked all around the city. The diversity of people who come through our doors is unlike anything I've ever seen,” says head bartender Andre Hoggard.
One trend Hoggard has noticed is a growing number of patrons choosing non-alcoholic options, such as mocktails, especially for those participating in Dry January.
“We're seeing more people who don't drink alcohol, and we've adapted to that. We offer mocktails, especially for people participating in Dry January. It's important to us that everyone can have a good time, no matter their preferences,” he says.
Turner's also caters to adventurous drinkers with unique options like Malort, a bitter herbal liqueur with a distinct flavor.
“We're one of the few places in the area that serves Malort. It's a bitter herbal liqueur with a distinct, unique flavor. Chicago made it famous, and it was one of the only liqueurs legal during Prohibition. It definitely sparks strong reactions—people either love it or hate it,” Hoggard says.
Turner's Bar isn't just a place to grab a drink; it fosters a welcoming space for everyone, from longtime locals to first-time visitors, while maintaining the spirit of the Stutz community.
Turner's Bar is open Tuesday through Thursday from 3 – 11 p.m. and until midnight on weekends.
