Center Grove Schools Reveals Audit Results on Policy Violations by Former Leader

Center Grove Schools in Indiana has revealed the results of an audit that found its former leader, Superintendent Rich Arkanoff, misused a credit card and failed to properly report time off. The investigation was conducted by the Indiana State Board of Accounts and the Indiana State Police.

Arkanoff had been with Center Grove Schools for 12 years.

The audit found that Arkanoff marked 33 days of "leave time" on a work calendar but not in the payroll system from November 2022 to January 2024. Additionally, credit card payments for personal expenses while Arkanoff was on trips on behalf of Center Grove Schools were not reimbursed.

According to a statement released by the school corporation, it plans to pursue repayment "of all misappropriated funds." The statement also notes that Arkanoff violated "School Board Policies," but it is unclear whether Indiana State Police are pursuing a criminal investigation.

The district has since appointed Assistant Superintendent Bill Long as superintendent. With 9,621 students, Center Grove Schools is one of the larger districts in Indiana.
