WISH-TV Celebrates Graduation of Its Third Class from the Multicultural Media Producing Program

INDIANAPOLIS—Thursday was a momentous occasion as students graduated from the third class of the Multicultural Media Producing Program at WISH-TV, culminating several months of dedication and hard work.

This program, initiated in 2023 by CEO DuJuan McCoy, aims to provide local high school and college students with a comprehensive understanding of the television news industry.

Over the course of 16 weeks, the program was led by seasoned WISH-TV Executive Producer Adam Krent, who expressed his gratitude to the students during the graduation ceremony for their enthusiastic participation and eagerness to learn.

“I want to thank you guys for being engaged, asking a lot of questions, and genuinely wanting to learn this semester,” he said.

Graduate Autumn Carter reflected on her experience, stating, “It’s the only kind of its class, but you can tell all that you learn that in that class.”

Another graduate, Kendall Pierson, shared her positive experience: “I loved the program; I learned how to write as a producer and gained insight into the behind-the-scenes operations of an actual newsroom. Working with real producers and anchors set me up for a lot of success.”

Isaiah Fairrow also echoed these sentiments: “I did stories in high school and earlier in my college career, but it’s really the writing because writing is a lot more complex here. You get different perspectives on various issues.”

WISH-TV News Director Brady Gibson addressed the graduates, emphasizing their role in shaping history through their narratives.

“Wherever you go in your lives, you are writing the first draft of history.”

The celebration included delicious treats from Taylor’s Bakery as graduates received their diplomas.
