Balmy Start, Soaking End: Weather Forecast for March 26-30

A balmy start is expected for March 26-30, but don't get too comfortable - a soaking end is on the horizon. Here's what you can expect:

Wednesday:We're starting off with mainly clear skies this morning, although patchy areas of fog may develop due to Tuesday's showers. In most cases, the fog should be light and isolated, not presenting a problem for your morning drive. As we head into the afternoon, high pressure will take control, leading to mostly sunny skies and reasonably cool temperatures, with highs topping out in the mid-50s.Wednesday night:Clouds will increase as a mid-level disturbance passes just to our north, bringing a few isolated showers that may sneak into the state by daybreak on Thursday. Overnight lows will fall to the mid-30s, which is reasonable for this time of year.Thursday:Get ready for an active day with multiple rounds of rain possible. Scattered showers will move in as we get to the mid-to-late morning hours, becoming more widespread heading into the afternoon. Heavy precipitation is likely, especially for the second half of the day into Thursday evening, and some areas could receive up to an inch of rainfall. There's also a chance for a few strong storms, mainly in extreme western counties, where a marginal risk of severe weather is possible. Damaging wind would be the primary concern for Thursday afternoon and night.Friday:Sunshine should return as we head into Friday afternoon, with temperatures rising into the mid-70s.This weekend:Active weather continues for the weekend. Showers are likely as an upper-level wave moves from Texas into the Midwest on Saturday, bringing a lot of moisture with it. Expect scattered showers for much of the day, some thunderstorms, and the potential for heavy rain. High temperatures will top out in the upper 60s and lower 70s.Right now, much of our state is highlighted as at risk for severe storms, with all modes of severe weather possible. Damaging wind would be the primary concern, but isolated tornadoes and some hail will also be possible. There's also a threat of flooding as heavy rain is expected when this cold front passes by, with some areas picking up an additional inch to an inch and a half of rainfall.Next week:Sharply cooler temperatures slide in to open the week on Monday. Look for some lingering showers in the morning hours with falling temperatures through the day. We will likely hit our highs shortly after midnight Monday morning, hovering in the mid-50s but falling back to the upper 40s by afternoon.Temperatures will remain on the cooler side for April 1 on Tuesday, with highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s. We do look to rebound back to the lower 60s by Wednesday and Thursday and could be pushing close to 70° by the end of next week.
