Blasting Heat Wave Continues

A blistering heat wave continues to grip Indiana, with high temperatures expected to soar into the lower 90s today - a whopping 8 to 10 degrees above normal for this time of year. The heat indices are predicted to reach triple digits, making it crucial to limit outdoor activities and stay hydrated.

"We will look for heat indices to reach the triple digits," said a weather expert. "Definitely limit your time outdoors if possible today and stay hydrated."

A spotty shower or thunderstorm is expected to develop this afternoon, bringing with it gusty winds and the potential for heavy rainfall. There's even a marginal risk that some of these storms could reach severe criteria.

The heat wave is expected to persist through tonight, with scattered showers or thunderstorms clearing out later in the evening. Low temperatures will remain muggy and mild, dipping into the low and middle 70s.

The same hot and humid conditions are forecast for Thursday, with highs reaching the lower 90s and heat indices once again expected to soar into triple digits. A spotty shower or thunderstorm could pop up in the afternoon and evening.

There's little relief in sight overnight, with temperatures staying stuck in the 70s.

The extended forecast looks like this: Friday will bring more hot and humid conditions, with highs near 90 and a chance of spotty showers or thunderstorms. The weekend is shaping up to be hot and humid as well, with partly cloudy skies and showers and thunderstorms possible by afternoon. High temperatures will remain around 90 on both Saturday and Sunday.

By the start of next week, there may be a pattern shift that brings temperatures down into the upper 80s on Monday and Tuesday, along with a chance for some showers and thunderstorms.
