Driver Pleads Guilty to Fatal Police Chase Crash

Zacrey Antrim, 30, has pleaded guilty to a fatal crash that resulted from a police chase that spanned county lines.

The incident occurred on April 18, 2024, when a Henry County Sheriff's Department deputy chased Antrim and his passenger, Nicholas Wollum, 25, in a Dodge Dart. The pursuit began after the pair fled from a traffic stop on State Road 3 near Henry County Road 650 North and continued into Muncie, Indiana.

Court documents reveal that Antrim was driving eastbound on West McGalliard Road when he swerved into the left turn lane to avoid vehicles stopped at a red light. He then sped into the intersection and crashed into a Jeep Wrangler.

The crash resulted in the death of Wollum, who was a passenger in the Dodge Dart, and serious injuries to the driver of the Jeep Wrangler.

In January, Delaware County Prosecutor Eric Hoffman announced that he would not file charges against the deputy for continuing the chase. Hoffman wrote, "Given the totality of the circumstances, assuming there is probable cause to believe that (the deputy) committed criminal recklessness on April 18, 2024, I do not believe that such a charge would be able to be proven beyond a reasonable doubt at trial."

No charges were considered for the officer's superior officers, as they remained in Henry County during the chase and the Delaware County prosecutor had no jurisdiction.

On Monday, Hoffman announced that Antrim had pleaded guilty to two charges of resisting law enforcement, which caused Wollum's death and serious injury to the Jeep driver. Both are felonies. Antrim faced seven other charges for the crash, including mostly felonies and two misdemeanors.

Antrim's sentencing is set for September 29. He could be sentenced to 4-22 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
