Former Deputy Accused of Stealing from Walmart
A former Marion County deputy has been accused of stealing from a Walmart store multiple times, sometimes while wearing his uniform. Timothy Beavo was fired by the sheriff's office on April 2 after being caught shoplifting on March 30.
The incident on March 30 was one of eight thefts connected to Beavo, which dated back to early February, according to a probable cause affidavit. The review of security camera footage and loss-prevention adviser with Walmart revealed that Beavo stole the following items:
- Feb. 13: A greeting card, $6.97.
- Feb. 22: Eight cans of cat food, $9.92.
- Feb. 27: Bag of potato chips, $3.50.
- March 5: Coffee creamer and a package of thick-cut bacon, $14.82.
- March 24: 300-count pack of paper plates, $16.46.
- March 30: Light bulbs, $8.97.
- March 30: Bottle of Omega 3 fish oil supplements, $14.54.
Beavo wore his deputy uniform in three of the thefts and was seen driving his sheriff's van during other incidents.
“A community’s loss of trust in a law enforcement officer must be dealt administratively, and if necessary, criminally. The MCSO voiced our strong support in charging Beavo with Official Misconduct in addition to Theft as he was in uniform three of the (eight) times he allegedly shoplifted.”
Marion County Sheriff Kerry Forestal
Beavo faces charges of three counts of official misconduct and six counts of theft. His status is a counsel hearing on June 18. Court records show he has been banned from all Walmarts in Marion County.
