Homicide Investigation Launched After Body Found in Missing Person Case
A missing person investigation in Anderson, Indiana has turned into a homicide case after a body was discovered on Monday near the border of Madison County and Hamilton County. Authorities found the body with the help of a drone in a rural area at the intersection of East 146th Street/Madison County Road and Atlantic Road.
As the investigation continues, authorities are working to determine what led to the death and confirm the person's identity. A news release from the Anderson Police Department did not identify the missing person, but stated that a man was found on Sunday in the missing person's vehicle.
"The names of all individuals involved are being withheld to avoid hindering the investigation,"
The arrested man is facing preliminary charges of auto theft and forgery, with the Marion County Prosecutor's Office considering whether to issue formal criminal charges. The man was placed in jail on a 72-hour hold.
A Madison County jail booking record shows that a 45-year-old Anderson man has been incarcerated since Friday on a murder charge with a bond of $250,000. However, online court records do not show a case filed against the man.
Anderson is a city of approximately 55,800 residents located about an hour's drive northeast of downtown Indianapolis.
