Layoffs Unfold at Stellantis' Kokomo Plant
Stellantis has announced it will temporarily lay off 900 workers, including employees at its Kokomo facilities, due to President Trump's new auto tariffs. The company will pause production at an assembly plant in Canada and one in Mexico, impacting some employees at several U.S. powertrain and stamping facilities.
The temporary layoffs will affect the Indiana Transmission Plant, Kokomo Transmission Plant, Kokomo Casting Plant, and two plants in Michigan.
“It will take our collective resilience and discipline to push through this challenging time,” said Stellantis COO Antonio Filosa. “But we will quickly adapt to these policy changes and will protect our company, maintain our competitive edge, and continue delivering great products to our customers.”
No timeline was provided for when the layoffs would begin or how many employees would be affected.
