Line Workers Face Extreme Conditions Amid Summer Storms

AES Indiana's line workers are bracing themselves for the extreme conditions that come with summer storms. To prepare, they participate in a comprehensive training program at the company's training yard.

"We're not just talking about climbing poles up to 105-feet tall," said an AES Indiana spokesperson. "We're simulating real-world storm conditions to ensure our line workers are ready for whatever comes their way."

Line workers often face daunting challenges, working long hours in high winds, rain, or triple-digit heat while navigating live wires and falling trees.

During a recent storm, AES Indiana replaced and repaired more than 50 poles, demonstrating its preparedness and response capabilities.

To stay safe, line workers are equipped with hard hats, safety glasses, and other protective gear to prevent contact with live wires.

AES Indiana advises customers to manage their air conditioning usage by keeping the temperature at a comfortably-high level to prevent system overwork during peak demand.

As line workers work year-round, AES Indiana continues to emphasize the importance of preparation and safety in maintaining power for the community.
