Marion Murder Convict Sentenced to 50 Years
A 28-year-old woman from Marion, Indiana has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for the murder and robbery of a 56-year-old man in 2023. According to online court records, Kourtney N. Thompson was found guilty by a jury on April 11 of murder, as well as two felony counts of robbery and a felony count of theft in Grant County Superior Court 1.The victim, Larry D. Jones Jr., was found dead in a mobile home community with multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma. The incident occurred around 10:25 p.m. on June 18, 2023, when a Grant County dispatcher received a call about an unconscious person.A judge vacated one of the two robbery convictions and the theft conviction, and Thompson will serve a concurrent 15-year sentence for the remaining robbery conviction.Grant County Sheriff Del Garcia said in a statement: "These acts of senseless violence are heartbreaking for families on both sides. We remain committed to pursuing justice and supporting victims and their loved ones."Two other men, Michael A. David and James E. Watson, were also involved in the case. David was sentenced to 55 years in prison after pleading guilty to murder, robbery, and theft, while Watson is awaiting a jury trial scheduled for June on charges of murder, robbery, and theft.
