Officer Placed on Leave Following Arrest Video Incident
A video has surfaced showing Lawrence police officers restraining a man while attempting to arrest him at a Walmart store on Tuesday afternoon. The incident, which occurred around 4:30 p.m., was reportedly in response to an "ordinance violation" at the location.
The individual involved, a 38-year-old man from Indianapolis, has been arrested and preliminarily charged with battery of public safety officials, two counts of resisting law enforcement, and one count of intimidation.

In response to the incident, Mayor Deb Whitfield has announced that the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave. The police department is currently examining bodycam footage and witness reports as part of their investigation.
