Partly Sunny Skies and Flurries Ahead, Warming Trend Starts This Weekend
Temperatures could run over 10° above average next week. This morning, it's another very cold morning across Central Indiana with wind chill values staying in positive territory but just barely.
A lot of cloud cover is present in northern and east-central Indiana, with a few flurries possible from time to time over the next several hours in those areas.
Friday will bring mostly sunny skies late morning and afternoon, with high pressure settling in just to our west. Expect light winds shifting to the south and southwest, and high temperatures reaching the upper 20s and lower 30s - warmer than the past few days but still running anywhere between 10 to 15 degrees below average.
Friday night will be mostly clear with mid- and high-level clouds filling in as we go through the overnight hours. Low temperatures will remain chilly, dipping into the high single digits to mid-teens.
This weekend looks good, with mainly sunny conditions on Saturday and slightly warmer temperatures. Highs will top out in the mid-30s, going above freezing for the first time in a while.
Sunday will bring us back to average temperatures for this part of February. We may see a few more clouds throughout the day, but conditions will remain dry. High temperatures will top out in the low 40s.
A nice warming trend will continue into early next week. Several days with highs in the 50s will be likely as we head into the last week of February. Monday appears to be a dry day with highs right around 50°, while Tuesday will also be warmer with breezy conditions and a chance for light showers late at night.
Wednesday looks like it could see some light showers across Central Indiana, with high temperatures topping out in the mid-50s and breezy conditions. Gusts potentially reaching 25 to 30 mph are possible.
Rain chances also look possible as we head into Thursday, with a bit of a cooldown bringing our temperatures back down to average, ranging from the low to mid-40s.
The seven-day forecast still hints that we may not be done with colder temperatures, with some signs of Canadian air diving in by the start of next weekend and into the first full week of March.
