Sizzling Heat Wave Ahead

Get ready for a stretch of scorching heat with dew points in the miserable category, making for dangerous heat index values that should be taken seriously. A string of 90-degree days is ahead, with extreme heat watches and advisories in effect from Saturday through Tuesday.

Friday night: Expect warm and mostly clear skies with lows ranging from the upper 60s to low 70s.

Saturday: Prepare for the hottest day of the year, with Indy's first 90-degree day expected. Lows will be in the low 90s, accompanied by 70s dew points, yielding near or just into triple-digit heat index territory.

Sunday: The heat will continue to blaze on, with highs reaching the low to potentially mid 90s. Heat index values will once again soar into the triple digits. To stay safe, limit your outdoor time and frequently hydrate from Saturday into next week.

7-Day Forecast: Expect a continuation of the heat and miserable humidity into much of next week. We'll also be watching for pop-up shower and storm potential starting Tuesday and carrying into late next week. Heat risk levels will remain high early and mid-next week.
