Southern Indiana Woman Charged with Trafficking Child via Dating App

A southern Indiana woman, Kristina McAdams, 36, of New Albany, has been charged with child sex trafficking, promoting sex trafficking of a young child, and promoting prostitution after investigators say she used an online dating app to traffic the child.

Investigators received a tip on February 10 about McAdams' activities on the MeetMe app, which flagged a conversation reporting it as "child sexual molestation" to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Messages recorded from MeetMe tracked conversations between McAdams and at least six other users discussing possible meetings for sex including the child. The website's initial cyber tip also included McAdams' admitting to sexually abusing the child for at least five years.

The investigation found that McAdams had been using the app to discuss meeting up with the child for sex, and that she had been doing so for at least five years.

On February 12, a search warrant was issued for McAdams' phone, and the Department of Child Services removed the child from her residence. McAdams was arrested on Thursday without incident and taken to the Floyd County jail. A court hearing has not been scheduled.
