Teen Arrested for Battery at Elementary School

A 19-year-old woman, Sammi Clark of Madison, has been arrested and charged with battery for allegedly harming a child at Ryker's Ridge Elementary School in Jefferson County.

The investigation began on February 28 when the school district reported an incident to the sheriff's office. A detective was assigned to the case and spoke with multiple witnesses, school administrators, and possible victims.

As a result of the investigation, Clark was arrested and booked into the Jefferson County jail with a $5,000 cash bond. She faces preliminary charges for six counts of battery on a person younger than 14.

The relationship between Clark and the child is unclear, as well as her employment status at the school. The Jefferson County Prosecutor's Office and the school corporation have not released further information.
