Tornado Causes Injuries and Property Damage in Marshall and Starke Counties
A tornado with winds reaching 110 mph struck northern Indiana on Sunday, causing damage over a 3.32-mile path in rural areas of Starke County.
The twister touched down about 8 miles east of Knox, the county seat, and was ranked as an EF-1. It caused extensive tree damage and minor structural damage, overturning a mobile home in Marshall County and injuring one person. The condition of the injured individual was not publicly disclosed.
The tornado developed 2 miles southwest of Ancilla College, quickly intensifying as it moved northeastward. It widened to 750 yards near Gilbert Lake before contracting again. Strong inflow winds caused additional tree damage up to three-quarters of a mile from the tornado's primary track.
