USPS Delays Cause Frustration in Indianapolis

The United States Postal Service (USPS) distribution center in Indianapolis has been experiencing delays that are causing frustration among residents. In just seven days, viewers have flooded I-Team 8 with emails and Facebook messages about the impact of the delays.

One individual affected by the delays is Travis Baird from Elkhart, Indiana. Baird fulfills his own orders for Amazon and has seen a significant increase in delayed shipments.

“Package didn’t arrive,” said Baird. “It just goes on and on. Package didn’t arrive. Package didn’t arrive. Package didn’t arrive for a $329 helmet.”

Baird's customers have been asking for refunds, which means he doesn't get paid. He has been using Amazon's A-Z claims process to resolve the issue.

“That stack right there is my Amazon A-Z claims,” said Baird as he thumbed through a thick stack of papers.

Jane Johnson is another individual affected by the delays. She is waiting for a package containing her grandmother's baking dishes that have been in her family for over 100 years.

“Stuff that you can’t replace,” Johnson said.

Congressman Jefferson Shreve and other Indiana lawmakers are working to solve the problem, but the process is taking time. Shreve's office stated that the reason for the delays is due to the recent transition to a new distribution center.

The postmaster general's office typically takes two weeks to provide an action plan to resolve the issue. Until then, residents will continue to experience frustration and delays in receiving their packages.
