Wednesday's Cooler Temperatures Give Way to Warmer and Wet Finale to the Week

A cooler start to the week will give way to a warmer and wetter finish. Today, we're expecting mainly clear skies with a few patchy areas of fog that developed overnight. High pressure will be in control, leading to mostly sunny skies and reasonably cool temperatures today.

Highs will top out in the mid-50s, which is close to average for this time of year. As we head into tonight, clouds will increase as a mid-level disturbance passes just to our north, with a few isolated showers possible but unlikely to impact the morning drive.

Thursday looks like an active day, with multiple rounds of rain possible. Scattered showers will move in by the mid-to-late morning hours and become more widespread in the afternoon, with heavy precipitation likely for the second half of the day into Thursday evening.

"There could be a few strong storms, mainly in extreme western counties, where a highlighted marginal risk of severe weather is possible," said meteorologist. "Damaging wind would be the primary concern for Thursday afternoon and Thursday night."

Friday will bring sunshine back to the area, with temperatures rising into the mid-70s by the second half of the day. The weekend looks active as well, with showers likely on Saturday and Sunday, along with a threat of severe storms.

"Right now, much of our state is highlighted as at risk for severe storms, with all modes of severe weather possible," said meteorologist. "Damaging wind would be the primary concern, but isolated tornadoes and some hail will also be possible."

Next week will bring a return to cooler temperatures, with highs falling back into the mid-50s by Monday afternoon and upper 40s by Tuesday. Temperatures will rebound by Wednesday and Thursday, but it won't be until the end of next week that we'll see highs pushing close to 70°.
