Weekend Weather: Sunny Beginnings with Rain Chances on Sunday

Look for sunny skies as we head into the first part of the weekend, with temperatures still below normal but expected to warm up slightly next week. Cool conditions are expected in the morning, with many areas reaching into the 40s and patchy fog possible across parts of the state.

"We will see sunny skies heading into the afternoon on Friday," says a weather expert. "If you're heading to Carb Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, it does look like we'll see dry conditions." Winds will be out of the west at around 8-15 mph, with gusts reaching up to 20 mph.

By nightfall, conditions are expected to remain quiet under partly cloudy skies. Low temperatures will fall into the upper 40s and winds will be light.

Saturday is shaping up to be a dry day across the metro area, with mostly sunny skies and high temperatures near 70. If you're heading to the parade or Legends Day at the track, expect plenty of sunshine and light winds.

If you're planning on attending an afternoon Fever game, it will also be dry with temperatures climbing into the mid-60s.

Looking ahead to Sunday, mostly cloudy skies are expected, with a few rain chances. While there is still some uncertainty, confidence is growing that the rain will stay south of Indianapolis. Temperatures will climb only into the mid-to-upper 60s for the afternoon.

"On Memorial Day, we'll see a partly to mostly cloudy sky and a chance for a few showers," says another weather expert. "High temperatures will be climbing into the upper 60s." Rain chances are possible heading into Tuesday, with highs right around 70. Temperatures will begin to climb into the lower 70s for Wednesday and Thursday under a partly cloudy sky.
