Project Pit Stop Helps Save Pit Bulls on 'Pet Pals TV'

Grateful Rescue has launched Project Pit Stop to save pit bulls from euthanasia in Indianapolis shelters. The initiative aims to address the overpopulation crisis by building container housing for pit bulls, which are often the first to be put down due to reactivity.

"These are very affordable houses, and we can start putting them out immediately," said Pamela Tarheun, founder of Grateful Rescue. "We need funding to make this happen." The initiative involves constructing modern container housing that is waterproof, fireproof, and weatherproof, with fenced runs for each pit bull.

Project Pit Stop aims to provide a safe haven for pit bulls at risk of euthanasia. With the help of the racing community, Grateful Rescue is working to save these dogs from death row. The organization has shared before and after pictures of pit bulls like Solar and Flex, who have thrived after being saved.

Grateful Rescue is focusing efforts on Indianapolis due to the city's shelter crisis, while Muncie benefits from no-kill shelters. Once pit bulls are removed from the stressful shelter environment, they decompress almost immediately, making it possible for them to thrive in their new homes.
