Breakfast at the Brickyard: A Meeting of Mayors at Indy's Speed Dome
The 500 Festival Breakfast at the Brickyard brought together over 80 mayors from across Indiana for a morning of celebration and connection at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
This long-standing tradition, dating back to the 1950s, highlights the Princess Program, where the Queen Scholar is announced, receiving a scholarship for her contributions to scholarship and community service.
“It’s a remarkable gathering,” said Bob Bryant, president and CEO of 500 Fest. “We have over 80 mayors here, and it’s a great opportunity to celebrate their commitment to their communities.”
The Breakfast at the Brickyard is a key event leading up to the Indianapolis 500, providing a platform for mayors from across Indiana to connect and celebrate their achievements.
“It’s a big commitment to manage cities and towns today,” said Bryant. “And this event allows them to celebrate and learn from each other.”
The event also featured a panel of remarkable women in motorsports, offering insights and inspiration to attendees. This year, three distinguished women leading the racing industry were part of the panel: Cindy Sisson, Executive Director, Women in Motorsports North America; Dr. Julia Vaizer, Medical Director, IndyCar and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway; and Ryann Weatherford, Vice President of Partnership Activations and Communications, Andretti Global.
The Princess Program is a highlight of the breakfast, where young women are recognized for their leadership and community involvement. Each princess receives a scholarship, with the Queen Scholar receiving an additional scholarship and opportunities on race day. This year, Chelsea Murdock was announced as the 2025 500 Festival Queen Scholar.
