Brownsburg Residents Weigh In on Lincolnwood Park Master Plan

Brownsburg residents are weighing in on the Lincolnwood Park Master Plan, with feedback overwhelmingly positive at a recent public meeting.

The open house-style event featured poster boards showcasing various concepts and representatives available to answer questions. Public input was received, but no vote was taken by the Town Council.

“I really like the plans that they’re developing. I think there are some tweaks that would benefit our group," said Fred Hakes, President of the Brownsburg Older Adult Alliance.

Hakes hopes the plan will take seniors into consideration, specifically ensuring accessibility for those with mobility issues.

“We’re looking for someplace for the seniors in the community to meet and play cards, bingo, socialize," said Vicky Byarley.

The master plan, presented to the Town Council in April, includes walking and biking trails, an outdoor amphitheater, an outdoor aquatics facility, and an indoor recreation center. The estimated $85-$92 million project aims to enhance community amenities.

“Having the facilities are just great to take advantage of. The mixed-use, rec areas, pools, amphitheater, potential music venue," said Steve Nowack, who is enthusiastic about the plan.

Nowack hopes planners prioritize pedestrian safety, particularly given the project's location along a busy roadway with limited walking or biking access.

The Town Council is evaluating various funding options, including traditional public investment models and collaborative approaches involving private sector participation. The next public meeting will be held on June 24 at 12 p.m. in Eaton Hall.
