Eskenazi Health Hosts Second Annual Community Day Health Fair

Despite the heat and chances of a pop-up storm, the east side of Indianapolis got a healthy start to their weekend at the Eskenazi Health Community Day Health Fair. The fair was held on the Eskenazi Health Thomas and Arlene Grande Campus, which serves as a one-stop shop for people needing multiple health screenings and medical care.

Parents were able to have their schoolchildren vaccinated for free, while kids enjoyed free book bags, games, a bounce house, and food. Participants also got to learn about mental health resources available to them.

"Patients who have transportation barriers no longer have to travel elsewhere to get additional services," said Antonia Wilson, clinical manager at Eskenazi Health. "So, it's been a great impact to the community."

Emily Littleton, a social work case manager, emphasized the importance of taking advantage of available resources: "We've got a lot of resources on our website... and I really encourage people to get out there and get online if they're not here."

In the United States, 1 in 10 people is a patient of a health center, according to the National Association of Community Health Centers.
