Forecast for Race Weekend: Cloudy Skies and Cooler Temperatures

A dreary Thursday is forecasted across much of Indiana, with lots of clouds and a few spotty showers expected throughout the day. Temperatures will run well below normal for this time of year, with highs around 60°F in Indianapolis and many areas in northern Indiana staying in the mid-50s.

Today: Cool and cloudy conditions are expected, with a chance of light rain on and off throughout the day. Temperatures will be about 15 degrees below normal, with highs around 60°F in Indianapolis.

Tonight: Partly cloudy skies will prevail, with temperatures dropping into the mid-40s. Patchy fog may also develop.

Tomorrow (Carb Day): The weather improves, with mostly sunny skies expected and temperatures climbing into the mid-60s.

Saturday (Parade and Legends Day): Dry conditions are forecasted, with partly cloudy skies and high temperatures reaching the upper 60s to around 70°F.

Race Day: A system is expected to move across parts of Indiana, bringing rain chances. One computer model suggests most of the rain will stay south of Indianapolis, while another model indicates rain may not arrive until after the race. High temperatures will climb into the mid-60s, still about 5-10 degrees below normal.

Memorial Day: A chance for showers is expected, with high temperatures reaching the mid-60s. On Tuesday, more rain chances are possible, with highs in the upper 60s.
