Last Day: Gr8 Paper Push Enters Final Stretch
As educators prepare classrooms for the new school year, WISH-TV and Teachers' Treasures are in a final sprint to secure donations during the Gr8 Paper Push. In its quarter century of existence, Teachers' Treasures has become a vital resource for schools in Marion County.
A nonprofit organization, Teachers' Treasures provides free supplies to teachers and school staff at schools with a demonstrated need, where 60% or higher of students receive free or reduced lunch rates. This allows educators to shop once a month from August to May without worrying about the cost.
Hannah Yeager from Teachers' Treasures told viewers on WISH-TV's Daybreak: "They get to make a once a month appointment to come in and shop for thousands of dollars worth of supplies entirely for free. Teachers and school staff members, including social workers, school nurses, guidance counselors, school counselors."
The deadline for donating dollars or supplies is Friday, the penultimate day of the 11th annual Gr8 Paper Push.
“We couldn’t do it without your support and without the community support,” she said.
To donate supplies, bring pencils, paper, cleaning wipes, tissues, or any other useful items to any Financial Center location in Indianapolis through Friday. You can also donate dollars directly.
“We like to say we can turn $1 donation into $15 for the school supply,” Yeager said.
