New Year's Celebration at the Children's Museum of Indianapolis
The Children's Museum of Indianapolis celebrated a unique New Year's Eve, counting down to noon instead of midnight. This special celebration was held to commemorate the museum's 100th anniversary since its founding in 1925.
Hundreds of children and their parents gathered at the museum, which is the largest of its kind in the world. One parent, Ryan Sherfey, wanted his kids to experience the wonder he felt as a child.
"I remember the water clock the most," Sherfey said. "I live in Virginia now, but when we came home for the holidays, I wanted my kids to see this."
The museum's celebration aimed to evoke nostalgia and create new memories as it looks towards 2025. Melissa Trumpey, from The Children's Museum of Indianapolis, expressed her hopes for the event.
"There's a different energy for all of us as we look at 2025," said Trumpey. "We hope people walk away with nostalgia and look forward to creating new memories as the year unfolds."
The museum has a rich history, starting from a small carriage house on 14th Street in 1925. It later moved to its current location at 30th and Meridian in 1976. To celebrate its milestone anniversary, curators have placed several items from the archives back on display.
"I have some core memories of visiting with my family and friends and visitng the Haunted House over the years, so it is an honor and a privilege to provide those experiences to others now," Trumpey said.
