2025-26 Winter Outlook Released by Old Farmer's Almanac
The Old Farmer's Almanac has released its 2025-26 winter outlook, predicting a "mild, dry" winter for Indianapolis and northern Indiana, while southern Indiana is forecasted to have a "cold, dry" winter.
This division is reflected in the temperature and precipitation predictions. Above-average temperatures and below-average precipitation are expected in the north, while the south can expect below-average temperatures and below-average precipitation.
"A 'mild, dry' forecast means above-average temperatures and below-average precipitation," said the Old Farmer's Almanac.
Last year, the Old Farmer's Almanac was correct with its prediction of below-average snow and precipitation in Indianapolis. Southern Indiana did finish above average with snow, which was also predicted.
While the Old Farmer's Almanac has only been accurate 3 out of 10 times over the last 5 years with temperature and precipitation predictions, it is still considered more accurate than its rival, the Farmers' Almanac.
Other Outlooks
The Farmers' Almanac is predicting a "very cold, snowy" Indiana winter, which is in stark contrast to the Old Farmer's Almanac's forecast.
NOAA's Climate Prediction Center will release its outlook later this fall, providing another perspective on what the coming winter may bring.
