Central Indiana Experiences Increasing Heat and Humidity
Central Indiana is experiencing an increase in heat and humidity, with hot and muggy conditions expected for the remainder of the week and into the weekend.
"While this area of high pressure may not be as strong as what we experienced over the past couple of weeks, it should push temperatures close to 90°F and keep precipitation at bay from Thursday through the end of the weekend."
The heat dome is expected to build in the southern portions of the United States, pushing temperatures up and keeping precipitation away. This will also increase humidity, with dew points rising into the upper 60s and lower 70s.
As a result, heat indices are expected to reach the mid to upper 90s for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The pattern is expected to remain hot and humid early next week, but should become more active as a trough begins to move across the eastern portions of the country. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible on Monday and Tuesday, with highs in the upper 80s.
The 8- to 14-day outlook also shows strong signals of above-average temperatures as we move into the middle of the month.
